BCW comic bags & backing boards size guide
Match the bag, board, and comic together. Current, Silver, and Golden are useful size families; measuring your actual book is the final check.
Three checks before buying
- Measure the comic’s width and height, including cover overhang.
- Choose a bag wide enough for both the book and the board. Annuals, square-bound books, and thicker issues may need a wider bag.
- Check the exact BCW SKU, pack quantity, and product dimensions. Bag dimensions below exclude the closure flap.
Never force a comic into a tight bag. Keep adhesive flaps away from the cover, and use clean hands and a flat work surface.
Modern & Current comics
BCW’s Modern board is 6⅝ × 10½ inches (1-BBMOD). Its Current board is slightly wider at 6¾ × 10½ inches (1-BBCUR). Standard Modern/Current bags are 6⅞ × 10½ inches (1-CUR); thick-comic versions are wider.
Choose Current boards for extra width around a typical current comic, while checking your book’s actual fit.
Silver Age & Regular comics
Silver-size supplies suit many wider older comics, but publication age alone does not guarantee a fit. BCW’s Regular board measures 6⅞ × 10½ inches (1-BBREG); the Silver board is 7 × 10½ inches (1-BBSIL).
The standard Silver/Regular bag is 7⅛ × 10½ inches (1-SIL). Silver thick-comic bags are 7¼ inches wide. For a simple starting pair, compare the standard Silver bag with the Silver backing board below.
Golden Age comics
BCW’s Golden board measures 7½ × 10½ inches (1-BBGOL), and the standard Golden bag measures 7⅝ × 10½ inches (1-GOL). Golden thick-comic bags are wider at 8 inches.
Older comics vary in size and condition. Measure carefully and leave comfortable clearance for fragile edges.
Polypropylene, Mylar, or premade bags and boards?
- Polypropylene bags: a practical everyday option, including resealable and wider thick-comic versions.
- Mylar bags: BCW offers 2 MIL and 4 MIL options. Their dimensions and pack quantities differ; check the matching SKU.
- Premade bags and boards: boards are already inserted in the bags. Check the number of complete sets per pack.
Keep comics away from sunlight, moisture, heat, and excessive pressure. A bag and board cannot correct poor storage conditions.
